PDO THREADS
Composed by sutures of PDO (Polyoxanone), synthetic and biodegradable material.
Developed during the 70s, its surface has a smoother layer than that of the catgut suture. It is the safest suture because it has little bacterial contamination. The PDO suture plays a role of wrinkle removal and the production of collagen as a foreign body effect is maintained for about 6 months in the human body, after the thread inclusion therapy. Then, the PDO suture is converted to water and carbon dioxide and completely absorbed without any residue through the hydrolysis process.
